A group of us visited the Roman Pottery collection at Harlow Museum. Chris Lydamore (Curator) plus Clare and Lee - two of his team, gave up their morning to give us an excellent and informative time. We learnt about the origins and features of Hadham Ware pottery and had a 'hands on' session with some of the museum's artifacts. We hope to continue our links with Chris and his team as we have already discovered Hadham Ware in the last two summer digs on Church Field Norton. For pictures of the event click here

Two groups are being established under the leadership of Greg Ford and Tony Driscoll. For instructions on how surveys are carried out please click here. The aim of these survey groups is to look at a number of locations within Norton to provide input into our 5 year plan activities. For details of our future lecture programme, please click here For details of our Field Archaeology activities, click here If you are interested in becoming involved in our activities then please contact our secretary Ken Bird (kenbird@ntlworld.com) Norton has extraordinarily well preserved historical records covering 1000 years of our social history. We also have unspoilt archaeology spanning 5000 years. The Norton Community Archaeology Group (NCAG) was set up 2 years ago to further our knowledge of the village and surrounding area through practical “hands-on” historical research and archaeological excavations. Our projects will illuminate hitherto unknown aspects of the village's past and bring it to life for the inhabitants of the area.
