Field Surveying 18th December 2008
Keith Fitzpatrick-Matthews (NHDC Archaeology Officer and also our Dig Director) has agreed to train interested volunteers in the techniques of Field Survey. Two groups are being established under the leadership of Greg Ford and Tony Driscoll. For instructions on how surveys are carried out please click here The aim of these survey groups is to look at a number of locations within Norton to provide input into our 5 year plan activities. As a follow-up to the inspiring lecture given by Libby Finney (December 2009), a group visited her Conservation Labs to see the techniques outlined in her talk first-hand. History Group Update....Breaking News! 18th February 2010
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) has awarded a grant of £10,000 to Norton Community Archaeology Group, it was announced recently. Following on from grants awarded for archaeological activities, the grant to the Group’s History section will enable it to unlock 1,000 years of written history of the village and parish of Norton, Hertfordshire.
