Many of you will have learnt of the sad loss of Deborah Giles. Deborah was a founding member of the Group. Over a period of 25 years Deborah had researched extensively the history and records of Norton. Her encyclopeadic knowledge and expertise has been invaluable in setting our aims and giving us leads as to further areas of research. A number of us attended Deborah's funeral on Friday October 31st which was extremely well attended and a very personal and moving occasion. We will all miss Deborah and her enthusiastic involvement and have sent condolences on behalf of the Group to Anthony and Deborah's sons. The family have invited donations Deborah's memory for the Garden House Hospice, Gillison Close, Letchworth, Herts SG6 1Q or MacMillan Cancer Support, 12 Prospect Place, Welwyn, Herts AL6 9EN. Members of the committee will be making personal donations to the local Garden House Hospice. Our thoughts are with Deborah's family at this time though we hope to consider further how we may recognise Deborah's work, perhaps in conjunction with the Letchworth Museum.
