Keith Fitzpatrick-Matthews ( NHDC Archaeology Officer and Director of the current Norton Church Field Dig) has recently written a report on the conclusions of the two test-pits dug on the day of the Norton Walkabout on June 24th 2007. To view this click here
Deborah Giles gave a very informative talk at St Nicholas' School Norton on the subject of 'Norton before the Garden City'. She gave detailed information about some of the older buildings of the village and the people connected with them. She explained a number of the terms used in local history which people would find interesting to have explained to them. This talk was the first of a series of series planned, before Christmas. We have now published the proposed plans of our Summer Dig.
Norton Walkabout 8th July 2007
The day was a great success - despite the weather!! Two test pits were dug in the village and there was an information 'stall' on the green. Several people stopped to talk to us and relate their tales and recollections of Norton through the years. This report appeared in the recent St. Nicholas' Parish Magazine...photos and a short video were taken of the day by Ros Knight one of our Document Group members.
